Science in Year 6

In Science Year 6 are learning about osmosis and diffusion and where they happen in our bodies.

We showed osmosis in an experiment by adding water to a gummy bear - we predict that the gummy bear will take in the water and get bigger. We also put an egg in a cup and covered it with vinegar. We predict that the egg will take in the water and expand. This should take a couple of days.

Diffusion is the spreading out of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. We experimented with diffusion by making a circle out of skittles and pouring water into the circle. We noticed that the colour from the skittles leaked into the water and spread out.
