To ensure the best quality of teaching and learning for your child, we will be encouraging everyone to read daily. Children will be asked to bring their reading book in each day and they will be supported to read independently, as a group, to the whole class and to you at home, as we know this has a huge impact on their confidence and their verbal and written language skills. We know you will support us when possible and reading for just a short while with your child in the evenings can make a huge difference to their progress throughout the year.

With regards to study time outside of school, children’s spellings for the week will be given to them on Monday, ready for their test on Friday. Homework will be handed out on Fridays and returned to school the following Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest.

In Year 4 children are very enthusiastic to participate in swimming lessons and we are reminded of the important life skill this is and high on the National Curriculum agenda. Our swimming lessons will be on Tuesday mornings at Moss Side Leisure Centre. We will leave school for the coach at 10.15am and arrive back to school approx. 11.45am. All children will be required to wear the appropriate swimming kit, full costumes for the girls and trunks for the boys; NOT casual baggy shorts. Moreover, any child with their hair below their ears MUST wear a swimming cap for hygiene purposes.

In Year 4, P.E will be on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please refer to the P.E uniform policy on our website.

We will do our upmost to ensure your child has the most enjoyable and successful time in Year 4 and we look forward to working closely with you.
