Year 6 2021 - 2022

Our blog page

We do hope you have had an enjoyable summer holiday. Miss McGhie and I are so happy to be with Year 6 this year and for me to be working with the children again from Year 4 is a true delight!

We have an exciting programme of study with lots of activities your children will enjoy.

Autumn Term :

Science: Light

R.E:  Come & See - Loving

Topic: Mayan civilisation

Music: Charanga_Happy

Art & Design:  Georgia O’Keefe - poppies/pastels   Mayan

P.E: Ball Games

To ensure the best quality of teaching and learning for your child at this present time, we will be encouraging everyone to read daily. We do hope children get back into the routine of reading each day as we know this has a huge impact on their confidence and their verbal and written language skills. We know you will support us when possible and reading with your child in the evenings can make a huge difference to their progress throughout the year.

With regards to study time outside of school, spellings will be set on google classrooms on Monday ready for the test on Friday. Time will be allocated in class also for review of spellings. Homework will be set on Fridays to be returned on Tuesday, ready to be marked.

In Year 6, P.E will be on Monday afternoon this term with our City coach and children can come to school wearing their kits for the day. Please refer to the P.E uniform policy on our website.

We have been informed of a number of exciting outings and residentials this academic year for our deserving Year 6 children which I’m sure you will receive further details on.

I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that despite the ups and downs of recent times, we will do our upmost to ensure your child has the most enjoyable and successful time in Year 6 and we look forward to working closely with you.
